Loving God and loving people - we teach Jesus Christ as Savior, Sanctifier, Healer, and coming King!
Exciting event coming up!
Next weekend, we will welcome missionary J.P. Schultz who is currently on home assignment. He will arrive on Friday, March 31, and we will welcome him with a dessert get-together that evening at 7 pm in the fellowship hall. On Saturday, April 1, we will have an international dinner at 6 pm, also in the fellowship hall. Everyone is invited to bring an "international" dish and come get to know J.P. J.P. will provide the message on Sunday morning, April 2nd. He will be telling us about his and his wife's experiences serving as foreign missionaries with the C&MA. They have been dorm parents in a missionary school in Malaysia and have more recently begun a new mission running a guesthouse and English Center for international C&MA workers in Mali. Services begin at 10:30 am. Come and join us for any or all of these exciting activities!
Rev. Brian Schmidt and wife Deborah
Rev. Brian Schmidt was officially installed as the new pastor of Calvary Alliance Church in Hiawassee on Sunday, October 30th. Mick Nole, Superintendent of the South Atlantic District of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, conducted the service.
Following the service, members gathered for a potluck in the fellowship hall to celebrate the arrival of the Schmidts.
Brian graduated from Piedmont Bible College in Winston-Salem, NC, with a degree in Religious Education in 1988. He has served in the ministry for 22 years.
Brian says his calling is “simply ministry: anytime, anyplace, anyone, as the Lord leads.” His says his heart’s desire is “to make a difference for Jesus in my community and around the world, one person at a time!”
Brian’s wife Debbie is a school teacher who will follow Brian here to Hiawassee once she completes the current semester in December. They have four children, all grown. Friends describe them as a team. Both Brian and Debbie have a real heart for young people.
Calvary Alliance Church meets in Chatuge Harbor, across from the high school in Hiawassee. Worship service begins at 10:30 am on Sundays, and Wednesday night prayer service begins at 6:30 pm. Members of the church invite people in the community who are looking for a small, but warm and loving congregation, to join them as they seek to worship and serve God.
The founding members of Calvary Alliance Church, HIawassee
Our Belief: The Bible says that the greatest thing we can do is love God. The second greatest is to love people. (Matthew 22:37-40) Everything we learn here at Calvary Alliance Church of Hiawassee is to help us do these two things the way God would have us do.
God's Word: We teach the Bible in a way that is easily understood and practical - here's what the Bible says, here's what that means, and here's how to live it out in our lives.
Praise and Worship: The focus of our worship team is to bring people into a more intimate worship experience with God. We offer a blend of traditional hymns and contemporary music designed to prepare our hearts to receive the Word of God.
People: Our group of believers is known for being warm and welcoming. If you choose to visit Calvary Alliance Church of Hiawassee, you will be warmly greeted by openhearted people. If you choose to stay, you will belong to a church family who will support and encourage you as we walk through life together.
